The Carolinas MicroOptic Triangle (CMOT), a research alliance in optical technologies between Clemson, UNC-Charlotte, and Western Carolina University has been on the road exhibiting at the major optics conferences to strengthen national and international visibility. Specific efforts have included the creation of marketing materials, a regional conference at Clemson in September 2005, the first CMOT Symposium at Charlotte in November 2005, a national rollout at SPIE Photonics West in January 2006, and an optical clustering event in cooperation with NC Photonics in February 2006. Future events include participation in Innoventure 2006 (Greenville, SC) in March 2006, Defense and Security Show (Orlando, FL) in April 2006, and the second CMOT Symposium at WCU in April 2006. An example of our enhanced national visibility can be seen in a recent article in
the Advanced Imaging Pro's Industry News Section.
