COMSET practices a multi-disciplinary approach to the research and application of optical fibers and photonics technologies, and our faculty includes some of the finest minds in fields as diverse as organic, inorganic, textile, and analytical chemistry; materials science; and mechanical, electrical, and ceramics engineering. In addition to impressive academic credentials, many of our faculty members also have worked for industry in the public or private sectors, and all are committed to our partnership and mentorship approach.
Within COMSET, numerous laboratories and groups provide opportunities for simultaneous work on a number of breakthrough research projects. COMSET faculty collaborate freely, and the innovative spark this atmosphere ignites is reflected in the large number of publications, sponsored projects, and service initiatives in which they have participated, as well as the honors and awards they have received.
COMSET is a centerpiece program at Clemson University, with veritably unprecedented access to resources, equipment, and opportunities in the field of optical fiber and related photonic technologies.
